Living Excellence
"They did not know it was impossible, so they did it." Mark Twain
Living Excellence is a powerful reflection on the place of excellence in our society. Former Olympic athlete turned coach and sports analyst Dominick Gauthier takes us to the heart of high-level sport by deconstructing the myths surrounding victory and well-being.
Through personal anecdotes and experiences with some of the greatest Olympic champions, he makes a striking observation. Today, the fear of failure and the obsession with well-being have weakened the culture of performance. Yet excellence is neither easy nor unhealthy. It is a choice, a way of life based on hard work, resilience, and passion.
Gauthier advocates a balanced approach where the quest for victory should not come at the expense of well-being, but thanks to it. He questions the overprotection of young athletes, early specialization, and the excesses of toxic coaching.
Dominick Gauthier is an influential figure in Canadian sports. An Olympian in freestyle skiing and coach to champions such as Jennifer Heil and Alexandre Bilodeau, he co-founded B2ten to optimize the preparation of hundreds of the country's top athletes. With more than 50 Olympic medalists supported by B2ten, he is a recognized expert in human performance. An Olympic analyst and commentator for Radio-Canada, he is known for his outspokenness and incisive analysis. As a speaker and coach, he works with leaders and teams to apply the principles of high performance to the business world and everyday life, inspiring everyone to excel in a sustainable way.
A native of Lévis, he currently lives in Vancouver.
