Once Upon A Time The Nordiques
100 players remember
Thirty years after their departure, the Quebec Nordiques still arouse the interests of hockey fans. For the very first time in English, immerse yourself into the team’s captivating history through the stories of its players. A hundred of them share their contributions to the team throughout the ages.
This book is the result of a colossal effort by Benoît Clairoux and Pierre-Yves Dumont, who reached a considerable number of players and conduct in-depth interviews with them. The result is impressive and fascinating, as we are plunged in the heart of the action and given access to a multitude of never-before-seen revelations about the main episodes that marked the franchise.
This book is a translation of the bestseller Il était une fois les Nordiques, 100 joueurs racontent, published in October 2024.
À propos des auteurs
A trained historian, Benoît Clairoux wrote the reference work Les Nordiques de Québec, toute l'histoire de 1972 à 1995, published in 2001 by Les Éditions de l'Homme. He also contributed to the book Raconte-moi les Nordiques by Albert Ladouceur, published by Les Éditions Petit Homme in 2015. A member of the Society for International Hockey Research and founder of the website www.histoirenordiques.ca, he is undoubtedly one of the foremost experts on Nordiques history.
Like Benoît Clairoux, Pierre-Yves Dumont has closely followed the Nordiques as a fan. In 2017, he organized an event at his employer's Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, bringing together the 1976/77 Avco Cup champions, a highly publicized event in Quebec City. In 2022, he was part of the organizing committee for the World Hockey Association's 50th anniversary celebrations, also held in Quebec City. Befriending several former Nordiques players, he interviewed many of them and began telling their stories.
